Panchmukhi ( Graduation project)

Panchmukhi (Sanskrit word meaning ‘five-faced’) is a womenswear s/s 21 collection inspired by a hindu mythological character Draupadi. The concept revolves around the five interpretations of Draupadi and understanding their relevance to the modern-day women related issues. Each name has been associated with a modern day inspiring Indian woman and an element of nature which has been further explored as running-stitch line embroideries. The silhouettes are inspired by traditional Indian pattern making techniques. The ‘saree’ has been a representation of Indian women since centuries. Natural-dye handloom khadi sarees woven in Andhra Pradesh, India have been taken as a foundation for each of the ensemble to encourage the traditional methods of weaving and sustainability.
